Declarations of Independence campaign from Jack Daniel’s

Today is Independence Day in the USA.  Last year, to celebrate, Jack Daniel’s worked with letter-press experts Yee-Haw Industries and the team at Colossal Media to first produce poster designs and then to scale these up into large scale pieces of hand painted advertising around New York.  The videos at the end of this post show the result.

This year they’ve broadened the range of crafts involved to include calligraphy, embroidery, wooden type (made from an old whisky barrel) and smaller hand painted signs.  These videos are shown above and below.

It’s pretty impressive stuff, once again raising the profile of hand crafted lettering and signage.  The various people and businesses involved include: ArnoldGolden West Sign ArtsThe Helms WorkshopJon ContinoYee-Haw IndustriesColossal Media.

You can visit the campaign website here [Link expired] where you can design your own poster.  Adweek have also profiled the campaign with full size images of all the executions.
