Student art project uses light projection technique to layout design on a barn
This technique of using light to create a layout is actually nothing new. There is a reference to the ‘lantern method’ in a 1929 book called Poster Design by W.G. Raffe. The method, offered up in contrast to the pounce method, is described as:
“The lantern method is done at night. A powerful electric lantern reflects the design from a coloured drawing, direct on to the wall. The painters trace the lines as they fall, and next day fill in the colouring as noted.”
